The Inland Empire’s homebuilding boom means house hunters have 238 new options in South Corona as the Bedford project officially comes to market.
The community, off the I-15 at Cajalco Road and Eagle Glen Parkway, is being built on 275 acres that once housed a lemon grove. With Inland Empire home construction at a 10-year high, according to MetroStudy, sales at Bedford — which eventually will house 1,620 homes — begin on Saturday, Sept. 22.
Aliso Viejo-based New Home Co., Bedford’s developer, will start its sales with 41 single-family homes in the Whitney neighborhood. They’ll range from 2,771 to 3,327 square feet with up to five bedrooms and up to five baths. Prices begin in the high-$600,000s.
Irvine-based TRI Pointe will sell Citron — townhomes ranging from 1,289-to-1,551 square feet with three bedrooms and three bathrooms and priced around $400,000 and up.
Utah-based Woodside Homes is building Nova, 96 two-story, single-family homes ranging from 1,754 to 2,296 square feet with up to five bedrooms and up to four bathrooms. Prices begin in the high-$400,000s.
This construction boom has coincided with a modest cooling in the homebuying pace this year. Southern California sales of existing single-family homes slipped below year-ago levels in August for a fourth straight month, the California Association of Realtors reported.
Bedford will also include 10 acres of retail, office, entertainment and lodging — plus the project will also pay for a freeway interchange that will improve access the new development and the Crossings at Corona shopping center across the I-15.
