The New Home Company (NEW HOME, NYSE: NWHM) of Aliso Viejo, Calif. today announced that A.J. Jarvis has been named president of its Southern California division.

Jarvis is moving from his position as president of NEW HOME’s land subsidiary to President Southern California where he will oversee the planning, development and implementation of all the company’s communities in the region.

The announcement of Jarvis’ new position comes on the heels of NEW HOME, one of California’s most active homebuilders, becoming a publicly traded company. It launched its initial public offering on January 31, 2014 and is now trading stock on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol “NWHM.”

“As we continue our strategic expansion, it is important that our organizational structure evolve as well,” said NEW HOME Chief Operating Officer Tom Redwitz. “A.J.’s experience and skill in design, planning and financial analysis will ensure that we are building the best homes on schedule and within budget. His leadership and passion for what we do will serve us well as we continue to grow.”

Jarvis has been with NEW HOME since the company was founded in 2009. His homebuilding experience includes a diverse range of product types from single-family detached to multi-family podium and Type I high rise. Jarvis’ projects have accounted for more than 70 national architectural and land-planning awards.

Prior to joining NEW HOME, he served as vice president of land acquisition for EJL Homes, and before that was the vice president of land acquisition and development for Laing Luxury, the luxury homebuilding division of John Laing Homes. There his major responsibilities included strategic planning, land acquisition, feasibility, entitlements, land planning, engineering, product development and project-management supervision. Jarvis began his homebuilding career with Taylor Woodrow Homes of Southern California where he was vice president of land and planning, focusing on luxury attached and detached housing. While at Taylor Woodrow, he also directed the land-development operations for several master-planned communities.
